The Frecce trains are at the heart of your network. What unique experiences do they offer that set Trenitalia apart from other modes of transport?
The Frecce trains are central to Trenitalia (FS Group)’s vision of modern, efficient, and customer-focused rail travel. Each train caters to different routes and travel needs, but all deliver a consistently high standard of service.
Frecciarossa, in particular, stands out for its speed, reaching up to 300 km/h, and its excellent onboard experience. Passengers can enjoy spacious and comfortable seating across multiple service levels, including Executive, Business, Premium, and Standard. The train is equipped with FrecciaPlay portal, offering free Wi-Fi and a wide selection of entertainment options—from movies and TV shows to news and music—accessible directly from personal devices. Additionally, travelers can choose from a curated selection of food and beverages, with menus designed to reflect Italian culinary excellence.
Frecciargento and Frecciabianca complement this offering by connecting key cities and regions with reliable service and comfortable amenities, ensuring that passengers experience quality and convenience regardless of their destination.
What truly sets Trenitalia apart is the seamless integration of technology, comfort, and service. Whether you’re traveling for business or leisure, the Frecce trains transform the journey into an enjoyable part of the travel experience. These features not only elevate customer satisfaction but also reinforce Trenitalia’s role as a leader in sustainable and innovative mobility across Italy and beyond.
How is Trenitalia contributing to greener mobility and reducing the carbon footprint of tourism in Italy?
Trenitalia is not just keeping pace with the sustainability movement, it’s leading it: traveling with Frecciarossa means choosing sustainable mobility that connects people and shortens distances while supporting the country’s well-being and development.
Our new generation Frecciarossa is the first High-Speed train certified for environmental performance (EPD), with low CO₂ emissions per passenger-kilometer and 94% recyclable materials, with a reduced consumption of 30% if compared to previous models.
Sustainability is embedded throughout the travel experience. With the Eco-Passenger tool integrated into our sales system, travelers can compare emissions across transport modes and make informed, greener choices. Even our FRECCIALounges in Roma Termini and Milano Centrale reflect this commitment: designed with eco-friendly materials, they minimize waste through plastic-free dispensers and recyclable alternatives.
How does Trenitalia work with travel agents, tour operators, and global distribution systems to expand its reach?
Trenitalia provides a comprehensive suite of booking solutions tailored for both online and offline partners, including independent travel professionals. Depending on the contract type, partners gain access to Trenitalia’s full-service portfolio—from high-speed Frecciarossa to regional trains and international Eurocity connections linking Italy with France, Switzerland, and Austria.
Trenitalia’s commercial strategy includes a wide range of travel packages designed to simplify and enhance the ticketing experience for international visitors. Among these, the Trenitalia Pass stands out as a particularly attractive option: it offers foreign tourists the freedom to travel across Italy’s extensive rail network for a set number of days, with unlimited journeys. Available in versions tailored for youth, seniors, and families, the pass makes itinerary planning effortless and encourages spontaneous exploration—perfect for travellers eager to discover Italy’s cultural richness at their own pace.
Whether you’re a global OTA or a boutique agency, Trenitalia offers flexible tools and commercial models designed to support your business. These solutions not only enhance partner engagement but also play a strategic role in expanding Trenitalia’s operational reach and strengthening its distribution network worldwide.
Looking ahead, what are Trenitalia’s future plans in terms of fleet, routes, or technology that travel professionals should know about?
Trenitalia is renewing its fleet with a new generation Frecciarossa, entering service by the end of 2025. Built by Hitachi Rail for travel across Italy and Europe, it features redesigned interiors with ergonomic seating, high-quality materials, and advanced digital systems for real-time information. With speeds up to 300 km/h, it also leads in sustainability—97.1% recyclable and the first high-speed train with full EPD environmental certification.
On the network side, we’re expanding internationally with new routes like the upcoming high-speed German connections performed in cooperation with German National Railways, offering a fast, eco-friendly alternative to air travel. This supports our goal of making rail the preferred mode across borders.
Additionally, we’re working to integrate products from other railway operators into our sales system, making it easier for travel professionals to offer seamless, multi-operator itineraries across Europe.
