India’s corporate travel undergoes transformation amid new workplace culture

With India’s corporate culture evolving rapidly under the influence of hybrid work models, generational diversity, and growing awareness around sustainability, business travel is also being redefined. Once seen as a routine function, corporate travel is now emerging as a key lever for connection, inclusion, and experience within modern workplaces.

According to the VIDEC India Corporate Travel Report, the sector is projected to grow at an annual rate of nearly 11 per cent, reaching USD 20.3 billion by FY27. This expansion is being driven not only by large metros but also by Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, as regional offices and client networks continue to grow across India.

Gender and generational shifts are also reshaping the landscape. Women now account for almost 16 per cent of India’s corporate flyers, led by metros such as Mumbai (19 per cent) and Delhi (18 per cent), prompting organisations to introduce more gender-sensitive travel policies. At the same time, Gen Z and millennial employees are seeking purpose-driven, sustainable, and tech-enabled travel experiences — from flexible itineraries to eco-conscious accommodations.

Organisations are increasingly viewing travel as an extension of their internal culture, focusing on safety, inclusivity, and well-being rather than pure logistics.

Digital platforms such as CoTrav, a corporate travel concierge service, are helping companies adapt to these shifts by offering technology-led, traveller-centric solutions designed for the modern workforce. By integrating sustainability, flexibility, and personalisation, such innovations are redefining how India’s professionals travel for work.

As India’s business travel sector moves into its next phase of growth, the convergence of technology, inclusivity, and employee experience is set to drive the future of corporate mobility.
