IIM Sirmaur set to host Tourism Industry leaders on National Tourism Day

Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur (IIM) will celebrate the National Tourism Day on January 25, 2024. As the only IIM to have a dedicated two-year MBA in Tourism Management, IIM Sirmaur had formed an Industry Advisory Board, as a platform for the exchange of ideas between the faculty of IIM Sirmaur and the industry stalwarts. The board comprises leaders of the travel and tourism industry, including  founders, senior professionals, and experts of companies like, AirIndia, IndiGo, Cordelia, Thomas cook, EaseMyTrip, Travclan and many more. This meeting, the second of its kind, would include activities like course development, industry readiness, and a series of guest lectures.

The event will also comprise a  case competition by Indigo. The competition puts students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills to the test. A mentorship workshop is also planned providing students a unique opportunity to interact directly with the members of the board. Students can seek guidance and career advice through this workshop through personalised mentorship sessions.

The day would conclude with a cultural event celebrating Himachal Day, which also happens to be on 25th January. It would feature performance of the traditional Nati dance of Himachal Pradesh.

The event aims to co-think the future of the travel and tourism academia and industry while celebrating the rich culture and heritage of Himachal Pradesh, contributing to the state’s increased visibility on the global stage. The institute remains committed to excellence in tourism education, preparing future leaders to shape the industry’s sustainable and thriving future.
