Virgin Atlantic is expanding its Bengaluru operations to 13 weekly flights from June 2026, signalling sustained growth in India demand. The move strengthens connectivity between Bengaluru and London Heathrow, while supporting onward travel to North America through the airline’s joint venture network.
Virgin Atlantic will increase its London Heathrow–Bengaluru service from 11 to 13 flights per week starting Sunday, 1 June 2026, for the summer season. The expansion marks a step towards achieving double-daily operations on the route.
The development reflects the airline’s continued focus on India as a key growth market, with Bengaluru playing a central role due to its position as a major technology and business hub. The enhanced frequency is expected to improve schedule flexibility and connectivity for both business and leisure travellers.
Strengthening India and global connectivity
The Bengaluru expansion complements Virgin Atlantic’s existing double-daily services to Delhi and Mumbai. The airline has increased its capacity in India by over 250% since 2019 and now offers more than 500,000 seats annually between India and the UK.
Through its partnership with IndiGo, the airline provides seamless onward connections to more than 30 destinations across India, including Goa, Amritsar, and Jaipur. The increased Bengaluru frequencies will also enhance connectivity to North American destinations such as New York JFK, Seattle, San Francisco, and Toronto via partnerships with Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM.
The route continues to be operated using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, configured with Upper Class, Premium, and Economy cabins, along with onboard social spaces.
Shivani Singh, Country Manager – India, Virgin Atlantic, said, “India continues to be one of Virgin Atlantic’s most dynamic and fastest-growing markets, and Bengaluru is central to that growth. Our enhanced schedule ensures a more consistent and well-timed service during the busy summer season.”
Capacity boost on Mumbai route
In addition to the Bengaluru expansion, Virgin Atlantic will temporarily deploy the Airbus A350 on its London Heathrow–Mumbai route between Friday, 28 March and Thursday, 15 May 2026. This change will increase capacity on the route by approximately 30% during the peak travel period.
The expansion underlines the airline’s strategy to strengthen its India network, driven by rising outbound and inbound demand, while enhancing connectivity across key international markets.
