The World Travel & Tourism Council has reiterated that the global tourism sector consistently rebounds strongly after major crises and disruptions, supported by faster recovery timelines and rising international visitor spending. Travel & Tourism contributed US$ 10.9 trillion to global GDP in 2024 and supported 360 million jobs worldwide, the council stated.

According to WTTC’s latest report, international travel recovered from a 72% decline during the pandemic to 2019 levels by 2024, while international visitor spending is projected to reach US$ 1.35 trillion by 2025. The report, unveiled during WTTC’s Leadership Summit in Egypt, analysed more than 100 global crises and highlighted that destinations with strong leadership, connectivity, and coordinated recovery strategies consistently achieved faster tourism growth and resilience.
