Southeast Asia continues to lead demand for India’s Buddhist circuit, while Europe and North America remain largely untapped, said Ahmad Maaz, Managing Director, Royal Tours Group. He highlighted the need for stronger awareness and targeted promotion in emerging markets. “Strong demand is coming from Thailand, Vietnam and Sri Lanka, while Europe and North America remain underpenetrated,” Maaz said.
He added that enhancing last-mile connectivity, curated itineraries, and multilingual services can improve visitor experience. Strengthening destination branding and experiential offerings such as meditation and cultural programmes can also help position sites like Kushinagar as longer-stay destinations.
