StarDream Cruises is introducing a devotional music experience onboard Genting Dream, bringing India’s growing bhajan jamming format to cruise travel. The initiative reflects a shift towards experiential and community-led onboard programming, offering Indian travellers culturally immersive moments during international cruise itineraries.

StarDream Cruises has announced a themed sailing aboard Genting Dream that will feature what it describes as the first bhajan jamming session at sea. The experience will be offered on two departures scheduled for Monday, 26 May and Monday, 9 June 2026.

The three-night sailings will operate from Singapore to Phuket and back, targeting travellers seeking experiential and culturally engaging cruise itineraries. The onboard sessions will follow the participatory format of bhajan jamming, where guests collectively sing, clap, and engage in devotional music rather than observe a staged performance.

Experiential programming for Indian travellers

Bhajan jamming has gained popularity in India as a community-led format of devotional music, where the emphasis is on participation and shared experience. By introducing this concept at sea, the cruise line aims to create a distinct onboard experience that blends spirituality with leisure travel.

Set against the backdrop of a cruise journey, the sessions are designed to offer travellers a break from routine while encouraging social interaction and cultural engagement. The format allows guests to engage with music in an informal and immersive setting.

Naresh Rawal, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, StarDream Cruises, said, “What makes bhajan jamming special is that it’s participatory and collective. It is not about watching a performance, it is about being part of the music. Bringing that same format to sea creates quite a different setting for it.

“When travellers step away from their everyday routines, moments like these naturally allow them to slow down, reconnect, and share the experience together.”

The cruise line positions the initiative as part of a broader effort to enhance onboard programming through culturally relevant and experience-driven offerings.

Expanding cruise experiences in Southeast Asia

Genting Dream, the flagship vessel of Dream Cruises, is homeported in Singapore and operates itineraries across Southeast Asia, including destinations in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The ship accommodates over 3,000 guests and offers a range of premium amenities and entertainment options.

StarDream Cruises, which brings together the Dream Cruises and StarCruises brands, operates across multiple Asian markets including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.

By integrating cultural formats such as bhajan jamming into cruise itineraries, the company aims to appeal to evolving traveller preferences that prioritise meaningful, shared, and experience-led journeys.
