Wellness hospitality is steadily shifting towards more personalised and outcome-driven experiences, with travellers increasingly seeking structured approaches to long-term wellbeing. Marking its tenth anniversary, Santani is refining its philosophy through a more defined wellness framework rooted in balance and preventive care.
Santani, Sri Lanka’s luxury wellness retreat located in the Knuckles Mountain Range near Kandy, has introduced two curated wellness pathways — Refresh and Transform — as part of its “10 Years in Harmony” milestone. The launch reflects the retreat’s move towards a unified wellness-led model, replacing the earlier distinction between leisure and wellness stays.
Founded in 2016 as Sri Lanka’s first luxury wellness retreat, Santani has built its positioning around addressing the root causes of imbalance through Ayurveda, supported by modern science. Its programmes focus on areas such as metabolic balance, sleep quality, nervous system regulation, and long-term resilience.
Two pathways shaped around different wellness needs
The newly introduced Refresh pathway is designed as a flexible and restorative experience for guests seeking a lighter introduction to wellness. It includes therapeutic treatments, wellness cuisine, movement sessions, and cultural activities, allowing guests to engage at their own pace within a structured environment.
Transform, meanwhile, is a more personalised and outcome-oriented pathway aimed at guests with specific wellness goals. The programme begins with an in-depth consultation and includes tailored therapies, personalised nutrition plans, and guided schedules developed by Santani’s Ayurvedic and wellness specialists.
Both pathways remain rooted in Santani’s core philosophy of restoring balance across body, mind, and energy systems.
Wellness aligned with longevity and preventive care
The launch comes amid growing global interest in longevity-focused wellness travel. Santani has positioned its approach around Sri Lankan Ayurvedic principles centred on prevention, rhythm, and personalised adaptation rather than trend-driven wellness formats.
Vickum Nawagamuwage, Founder and CEO, Santani, said, “What has remained constant for us is the belief that true wellbeing comes from understanding and addressing the root cause of imbalance. With the introduction of our new wellness pathways, we are offering guests a clearer way into our philosophy, making it easier for them to find the right fit according to their wellness aspirations.”
Global recognition and evolving wellness landscape
Over the past decade, Santani has received international recognition, including a MICHELIN Key from the MICHELIN Guide, alongside mentions in TIME, Forbes, and the Tatler Spa Guide. The retreat was also included in the Oscars “Everyone Wins” Nominee Gift Bag for 2025 and 2026.
Positioned as a design-led wellness sanctuary, Santani continues to focus on quieter, more intentional hospitality experiences centred on clarity, restoration, and long-term wellbeing rather than conventional luxury indulgence.
