Josel F Ignacio, Philippines Ambassador to India on February 12, said the Philippines emerged as India’s second most searched travel destinations for 2025, after the Mahakumbh Mela. He cited a 28% jump in online searches, indicating rising destination recall and intent among Indian outbound travellers. Referring to travel platform data, he added that Indians are increasingly favouring short-haul Asian and Central Asian trips, with the Philippines already climbing to number five and continuing to move up.
For travel agents and tour operators, this is a clear demand signal to sharpen Philippines inventory—airfares, hotel contracts, island circuits, and MICE-ready city breaks—and convert high search interest into bookings.
