Quality standards in hospitality are increasingly shaped behind the scenes — and housekeeping leaders are now firmly at the centre of that transformation. Reflecting this shift, the Professional Housekeepers Association (PHA) has announced the 8ᵗʰ National Housekeepers Convention, scheduled to take place in New Delhi later this year.
The convention will be held on 30 May 2026 at Eros Hotel, New Delhi, bringing together housekeeping professionals and hospitality leaders from across India for a day of focused discussion, learning, and industry exchange.
Stewards of standards
The 2026 theme, Stewards of Standards, underscores the evolving responsibility of housekeeping leaders as custodians of quality, safety, and consistency. Beyond cleanliness, housekeeping today plays a critical role in upholding brand promise, ensuring guest trust, protecting assets, and embedding sustainable practices into daily operations.
Leadership in the art and science of housekeeping
The convention title — Leadership in the Art and Science of Housekeeping — reflects the dual nature of the function. While the “art” represents attention to detail, aesthetics, and guest-centric care, the “science” highlights systems, hygiene protocols, technology adoption, and performance metrics. Together, the focus reinforces housekeeping’s strategic influence on service excellence and operational efficiency.
Care, create, elevate
The programme is anchored around three core inspirations — Care, Create, and Elevate. These pillars emphasise responsibility towards people and the environment, encourage innovation and smarter processes, and promote continuous improvement and professional growth. Collectively, they position housekeeping leaders as drivers of excellence in modern hospitality.
The announcement follows the success of the 7ᵗʰ National Housekeepers Convention, held on 17 May 2025 in Bengaluru, which attracted more than 220 delegates, including executive housekeepers, directors of rooms, operations heads, and solution providers. Sessions focused on talent development, operational efficiency, sustainable housekeeping, and technology integration.
Key highlights from the 2025 edition included strategic keynotes on workforce empowerment, case studies from leading hotel chains, solution showcases featuring automation and eco-friendly innovations, and strong emphasis on career pathways for housekeeping professionals.
Building on this momentum, the 2026 convention will spotlight emerging trends such as AI-assisted workflows, sustainability benchmarks, workforce training frameworks, digital quality assurance, and process excellence across housekeeping and facilities management.
Commenting on the announcement, Jayashree Nagaraj, Founder President and Chairperson, PHA, said the growing strategic relevance of housekeeping was clearly evident in the previous edition. She noted that the New Delhi convention would deepen industry dialogue through actionable insights and practical solutions aligned with current operational realities.
Bharti Singh Kalappa, Founder Member, National Vice President and VP Operations, PHA North Chapter, added that the agenda is being curated to address innovation, sustainability, skill enhancement, and technologies that enhance housekeeping performance across hotel segments.
The 8ᵗʰ National Housekeepers Convention is expected to attract over 300 housekeeping professionals, operations leaders, procurement heads, hospitality educators, and leading suppliers, reinforcing PHA’s role in advancing standards and professional development within the sector.
