With over 370 newly released sailings across 50 countries, Norwegian Cruise Line’s latest winter deployment signals growing confidence in Caribbean, Bahamas and Mexico demand, offering the trade wider choice and flexible itineraries.

As global cruise demand continues to broaden beyond traditional peak seasons, Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled its 2027–28 northern hemisphere winter deployment, positioning warm-weather destinations as a key driver for both first-time and repeat cruisers. The programme reflects the cruise line’s strategy of combining high-frequency Caribbean sailings with longer, immersive itineraries across multiple regions.

The newly announced deployment adds 320 voyages focused on the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda and the Mexican Riviera, taking the total number of newly released sailings to more than 370 across 50 countries for the season. For the travel trade, the scale of the rollout provides significant scope to package short breaks, extended holidays and destination-rich cruises under one portfolio.

San Juan emerges as a key southern Caribbean hub

For the first time in its history, Norwegian Cruise Line will homeport two of its Prima Class ships in San Juan, Puerto Rico. From November 2027 to April 2028, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva will operate week-long Southern Caribbean itineraries, offering distinct routing options that include destinations such as Barbados, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis, Aruba and Curaçao. The move strengthens San Juan’s role as a strategic embarkation point for island-hopping cruises.

Florida homeports anchor high-volume Caribbean sailings

Seven ships will operate from Florida ports, including Miami, Port Canaveral and Jacksonville, covering a mix of short Bahamas cruises and longer Caribbean and Panama Canal voyages. Many itineraries will include calls at Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island in the Bahamas, which is set to feature new guest amenities aimed at enhancing the onshore experience.

Expanded options from the Gulf Coast and West Coast

The deployment also reinforces Gulf Coast connectivity, with ships sailing from Galveston and New Orleans on Western Caribbean routes, while Norwegian Encore will operate weekly Mexican Riviera cruises from Los Angeles. These itineraries are designed to appeal to families, leisure travellers and cruise repeaters seeking convenient roundtrip options.

Broader global context

The winter programme builds on previously announced Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Hawai‘i sailings for the same season, underlining Norwegian Cruise Line’s intent to balance high-demand regional cruising with longer, culturally immersive journeys worldwide.
