Margins are under severe pressure, particularly in respect of bookings that were secured earlier, but travel is scheduled over the coming months. It is a well-established industry practice that agencies do not always proceed with immediate ticketing in order to retain flexibility for passengers, especially in an era increasingly dominated by non-refundable fares. Sometimes this delay in ticketing hits us badly, since fares appear different overnight, even on confirmed bookings, not yet ticketed.”
