Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah presented the 2026-27 Budget in the Assembly on Friday. He pitched it as a roadmap for sustainable growth and social harmony. The government said the past year’s floods in Jammu and the Pahalgam terror attack hurt tourism and agriculture. Abdullah said own revenues meet only about 25 percent of budget needs. Tax receipts were ₹10,265 crore and non-tax receipts ₹4,964 crore until December 31, 2025.

Nearly 60 percent spending goes to salaries, pensions, and debt. The Budget prioritises infrastructure, power reforms, and opportunities for youth and women. He said central support remains crucial.
