Japan will launch the TOURIST PASMO prepaid travel card from May 2026 for international visitors, enabling seamless access to trains, buses, and retail payments. The initiative aims to simplify travel across cities and enhance convenience for inbound tourists.

The IC card will allow tap-and-go usage across public transport and vending systems, replacing the earlier PASMO Passport. Designed for modern travellers, it integrates mobility and payments into a single platform, supporting Japan’s broader strategy to improve tourist infrastructure and visitor experience.
