Disney Cruise Line christened Disney Adventure in Singapore on Tuesday, 4 March, marking the debut of its first ship to homeport in Southeast Asia. The ceremony signals the cruise line’s continued global expansion and aims to introduce Disney cruise experiences to new markets across Asia.

Disney Cruise Line formally welcomed Disney Adventure to its fleet during a christening ceremony held in the Walt Disney Theatre aboard the ship in Singapore. The event celebrated the introduction of the cruise line’s first vessel to sail in Southeast Asia and highlighted Disney’s storytelling through music, performances, and visual effects.

The ceremony featured regional vocalists and musicians alongside a 23-piece orchestra, delivering performances inspired by Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories. Jed Madela, singer and Hollywood Performing Arts Hall of Fame inductee, and Dami Im, international recording artist and Eurovision performer, led musical segments that showcased classic Disney melodies accompanied by large-scale visual displays.

The show also included appearances from Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse, while senior leadership from The Walt Disney Company attended the ceremony.

Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences, The Walt Disney Company, and incoming Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company, and Joe Schott, President, Disney Signature Experiences, joined the performers on stage to mark the christening.

Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences, The Walt Disney Company, said, “The Walt Disney Company has always been built on the power of storytelling and innovation – and Disney Cruise Line brings those values to life in extraordinary ways. Our cruise ships are ambassadors of our brand that carry joy, wonder and enchantment to destinations around the world. As our first ship to homeport in Asia, the Disney Adventure represents a new chapter for Disney Cruise Line and will introduce Disney to audiences who may be experiencing our magic for the very first time.”

Robert Downey Jr., actor and Godparent, Disney Adventure, delivered the ceremonial blessing for the ship. He said, “I’ve had the privilege of getting to know the team at Walt Disney Imagineering, and I can tell you Adventure is the perfect name for what they’ve created. Being the Godparent of this majestic vessel is an honour, and I have some serious duties to perform, so let’s make it official.”

He concluded the ceremony with the official blessing: “I christen thee, Disney Adventure, may God bless this ship and all who sail upon her.”

The ceremony concluded with a performance of “Let’s Set Sail”, a Disney Cruise Line tradition featuring multiple Disney characters.

Disney Adventure features seven themed areas inspired by Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories, including San Fransokyo Street from Big Hero 6. The ship also includes a Broadway-style musical titled Remember, immersive dining experiences, fireworks at sea, children’s clubs, adult lounges, and the cruise line’s first roller coaster at sea, Ironcycle Test Run.

The vessel is Disney Cruise Line’s eighth ship and its largest to date. It will embark on its maiden voyage on Monday, 10 March, followed by an inaugural season of three- and four-night itineraries at sea. The ship forms part of a multi-year fleet expansion plan, with five additional ships scheduled to join Disney Cruise Line by 2031.
