Commenting on this year’s Budget, PATA India Vice Chairman, Vikram Madhok says, “While the Budget focuses on eco trails and immersive experiences and other initiatives which will add to tourism revenues both in rupee and forex terms, it does not indicate adequate intent to become a ‘Destination of Choice’ for international FTOs and tourists. Notwithstanding, the fine print will reveal whether we have more than the meagre few crores to make a significant impact on the international tourism landscape and how we will make up for the woeful shortage of quality accommodation infrastructure and ensuring a qualitative tourist experience.”
Haim Katz, Minister of Tourism, Israel, speaking at the IMTM 2026 International Tourism Exhibition in Tel Aviv, said, “Uncertainty and travel warnings have impacted tourism activity, but with improvements in flight availability in 2026, there is reason for optimism that signs of recovery are already emerging. Accordingly, we are increasing investment in marketing and will soon launch a new flagship campaign in the USA, titled ‘I AM ISRAEL’, tailored with dedicated messaging to pro-Israel audiences, evangelicals, and Jewish communities. This will be carried out alongside continued promotional activity and hosting efforts in other leading markets. Our goal is not only to return to previous levels, but to improve and break records.”
Paul Shih, Director, Singapore Office, Taiwan Tourism Administration, said, “Since February 2024, after we established the Taiwan Destination Information Centre in Mumbai, we achieved a 20% growth in visitor arrivals to Taiwan. This shows Indians are trying to discover Taiwan, and that is why we are doing more roadshows in cooperation with OTAs to introduce different aspects of Taiwan — our food, our cultures, and different kinds of experiences.”
