As per OAG’s monthly airline data updates for the Indian market for the month of February 2026, IndiGo has emerged as the biggest airline in terms of seats with 11,741,537 seats in total. Total domestic capacity in India accounts for 67% of all seats, with international capacity making up the remaining 33%. Overall capacity increased by 2.3%, with international capacity increasing by 4.5% and domestic capacity by 1.3%. Low-cost airlines dominate the Indian market, holding 70% of capacity with 16.7m seats – an 8.3% increase vs February 2025. Full service capacity is 7.2 million seats, having reduced by 9.5% year-on-year.

Referring to the new visitor levies in the UK, WTTC says that its research has consistently shown that travellers are becoming increasingly price sensitive, particularly in a weaker economic environment.
