Commenting on this year’s Budget, PATA India Vice Chairman, Vikram Madhok says, “While the Budget focuses on eco trails and immersive experiences and other initiatives which will add to tourism revenues both in rupee and forex terms, it does not indicate adequate intent to become a ‘Destination of Choice’ for international FTOs and tourists. Notwithstanding, the fine print will reveal whether we have more than the meagre few crores to make a significant impact on the international tourism landscape and how we will make up for the woeful shortage of quality accommodation infrastructure and ensuring a qualitative tourist experience.”
