Leadership appointments remain central to shaping brand direction in luxury hospitality, particularly as South Asia continues to attract global investment. Accor’s latest senior move reflects its focus on strengthening operational depth and brand-led growth across its premium portfolio in the region.
Accor has appointed Amitabh Rai as Chief Operating Officer – Luxury, Accor, South Asia, effective 15 January 2026. In this role, Rai will lead the operational and strategic direction of Accor’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio across South Asia, with responsibility for driving performance across the Raffles, Fairmont, and Sofitel brands.
The appointment comes as Accor continues to expand and consolidate its luxury presence in the region. Rai’s mandate includes delivering distinctive luxury experiences, strengthening brand differentiation, and ensuring sustained operational excellence across the portfolio.
Rai brings nearly three decades of hospitality experience across India and Indonesia, spanning senior leadership roles and a seven-year entrepreneurial venture. He is recognised for building empowered teams and delivering consistent results in complex operating environments.
He began his hospitality career with Oberoi Hotels & Resorts after graduating from The Oberoi School of Hotel Management and went on to become one of the youngest General Managers in the group. In 2018, he joined Marriott International as General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore, before assuming responsibility for overseeing Marriott’s Hyderabad market. Most recently, he served as Multi-Property General Manager for The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott, Jakarta.

In his new role, Rai will be responsible for defining and executing Accor’s long-term strategic vision for its luxury and lifestyle brands in South Asia. His responsibilities will include driving financial performance, strengthening brand positioning, and fostering a culture centred on learning, trust, and innovation.
