India ‘Leading’ in luxury experiences

The Leading Experience India 2025, curated by The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) – India, brought together some of the world’s most exquisite and independently spirited luxury properties for an exclusive engagement.

Set against the stunning backdrop of The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, the three-day event blended business with genuine connection — from one-on-one meetings and networking lunches to immersive experiences that showcased the essence of independent luxury. As hoteliers and travel partners exchanged ideas and explored new opportunities, the event underscored India’s position as one of LHW’s strongest and most dynamic markets worldwide.

“India represents one of the most dynamic opportunities for The Leading Hotels of the World – both as a powerful source of outbound luxury travellers and as an inspiring destination for our future growth,” said Chris Walker, SVP and Chief Commercial Officer, The Leading Hotels of the World.

He added that the market continues to show strong momentum with an ADR that surpasses LHW’s global average and ranks highest in the APAC region outside of China and that the group is committed to deepening its presence in India through partnerships with exceptional hoteliers.

“Indian travellers are increasingly seeking larger, suite-style accommodations and meaningful, experience-led stays — choices that align perfectly with the independent spirit of our collection. Our newest member, The Imperial New Delhi, reflects that vision beautifully,” he said.

Leading Experience India

Speaking about the concept behind The Leading Experience India, Walker said, “The Leading Experience India was created to bring connection to life – deepening our partnership with India’s exceptional travel trade community through genuine collaboration and shared inspiration.”

Evolving traveller profile

The Indian luxury traveller has evolved into a deeply discerning and purpose-driven guest — someone who values authenticity, connection, and personal enrichment above all else, Walker said.

Partnering for growth

Walker reiterated India’s importance, adding that the company aims to “cultivate deeper, more purposeful relationships with Indian travel advisors and luxury travel companies.”

Purposeful expansion

Talking about future, Walker said, “Our strategy at The Leading Hotels of the World is focused on purposeful growth — expanding our community with remarkable, independent hotels that embody authenticity, quality, and a true sense of place. In 2025 and beyond, we are concentrating on member development in high-potential regions, such as India and Asia Pacific, as well as the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, while continuing to strengthen our presence in established destinations.”

Highlighting sustainability as a key pillar, Walker noted, “Through our Sustainability Leaders Collection, now exceeding 130 certified properties aligned with the GSTC criteria, we are helping our members operate responsibly while giving travellers confidence that their stays contribute positively to local communities.”
